Michigan Route 14

Western
Terminus: I-94 (Exit 171) in the western end of Ann Arbor

Eastern Terminus: The southern interchange between I-96 and I-275 in Plymouth Township, just west of the Livonia City Limits

Length: 22.54 miles

Counties: Washtenaw, Wayne

Routing: M-14, a freeway for its entire length, serves as an important route for motorists coming from Ann Arbor and points west to the western and northwestern suburbs of the Metro Detroit area.  Beginning at I-94 in the western end of Ann Arbor, M-14 runs along the northern edge of the hometown of the University of Michigan as a four-lane freeway through the western US 23 interchange, then as a six-lane freeway along the 3-mile stretch where it runs simultaneously with US 23.  After US 23, M-14 continues eastward with a four-lane cross-section, passing by M-153's Western Terminus before entering into Wayne County.  M-14 widens to six lanes at the Beck Rd. interchange, passing Downtown Plymouth to the north, before coming to an end as it meets I-96 and I-275 at the southern end of the 6-mile long duplex between the two Interstates.  I-96 picks up where M-14 leaves off, heading eastward toward and ultimately into Detroit.

View looking westerly along M-14 from the Haggerty Rd. overpass.  The median narrows as the freeway moves westward from the I-96/I-275 interchange, and a concrete barrier commences to separate the dual carriageways of M-14 traffic just before the Schoolcraft Road overpass.

Scene looking east from the Haggerty Rd. overpass at the I-96/I-275 interchange, which marks M-14's Eastern Terminus.  There is no M-14 ENDS signage present at this end of the freeway.  Just after passing beneath I-275, M-14 East defaults onto I-96 East, as it makes its way toward Downtown Detroit.
