Westerly view from the Kipling Avenue overpass. Easterly view from the Kipling Avenue overpass towards the Highway 409 flyover.  The central median looks like it has been designed to accommodate an additional westbound lane Westerly view from the Islington Avenue overpass, focused over the eastbound lanes of Highway 401.  The former steel barrier separating the core and collector lanes had been removed during construction. Westerly view from the Islington Avenue overpass overtop of the westbound lanes of the 401.

An additional westbound view from Islington Avenue.  The ramp in the foreground of the photo carries traffic to Highway 409. Westerly view overtop of the westbound lanes from the Weston Road overpass.  When this photo was taken, no substantial modifications had taken place along the westbound lanes since the highway was 12-laned during the 1960s Easterly view from overtop of the Weston Road overpass.

Easterly view from the Weston Road overpass.  Work to repair the westbound collector lanes was ongoing when this photo was taken. Easterly view overtop of the eastbound lanes from Weston Road. View underneath the eastbound off-ramp to Weston Road.  This was the only structure over the Humber River that was not fully replaced during the multiyear reconstruction of the 401. Modifications are required to the exiting pier caps for the Humber River structure to support new structural steel.

Easterly view from the Don Mills Road overpass towards the closed ramp from the southbound 404 to the westbound 401 Express.  This ramp re-opened late December, 2013. Centralized view from the Don Mills Road overpass.  A panel from the pull through "401 East" overhead signage had fallen off when this picture was taken, revealing the unilingual text behind. Westerly view from the Don Mills Road overpass. As a consequence of the ramp from the 404 to the westbound express lanes was that the collector lanes saw an increased volume of traffic and were often congested.
 



Contract #2013-2014 Highway 401 Eastbound Collector Rehabilitation - Dufferin Street to Avenue Road

Eastbound collector lane signage at the Allen Road off-ramp.  As part of the highway reconstruction, a third eastbound lane is being pushed through the Allen Road interchange. Easterly view as the collector lanes pass beneath the ramp from Allen Road northbound to the eastbound express lanes of the 401.  Most of the highway's shoulders are being sacrificed to construct the third lane. A first generation COMPASS sign stands at the on-ramp from Bathurst Street.  This sign will be replaced with a modern full colour COMPASS sign during the reconstruction. Westerly view from the Avenue Road overpass.  The clearing for the additional lane is visible between the off-ramp and on-ramp. A similar view looking westerly from the Avenue Road overpass. Looking towards the western side of the Avenue Road overpass.  The Avenue Road overpass is similar in design to the Keele Street overpass that was replaced in 2013, and is itself slated to be replaced within the next few years. An OPP officer is parked on the outside shoulder of the highway just east of the Avenue Road overpass. The North York City Centre Skyline is visible from the Avenue Road overpass. Advanced signage for the Collector to Express transfer beyond Avenue Road. The construction contract ends just beyond the pictured transfer at the western touchdown of the Hogg's Hollow Bridge.
