Southerly view from the Caruth Haven Lane overpass. The Central Expressway was rehabilitated and widened to its current configuration during a series of contracts that took place in the 1990s. Before that, the Central Expressway was constructed in the late 1940s and early 1950s and was severely substandard and chronically congested. |

Southbound signage at the I-635 interchange. TxDOT often paints route markers along the pavement of the freeway at large systems interchanges. In my opinion, this greatly improves navigation through an interchange. |

Two views looking southerly towards the President George Bush Turnpike interchange. Probably the most striking feature about this stack interchange is its compactness. All of the ramp connections have only a single lane, and the ramp geometry is best described as tight. |

Advanced signage for the Sam Rayburn Tollway. The Sam Rayburn Tollway was originally conceived as a freeway alignment for Texas 121. Due to mounting budget concerns, the highway was instead tolled and is now operated by the North Texas Tollway Authority (NNTA). Texas 121 follows the tollway's frontage roads. |
