King's Highway 137 - www.OntHighways.com

King's Highway 137 is a short spur highway that connects Highway 401 to Interstate-81, via the Thousand Island Bridge and Hill Island. North of the Thousand Islands Parkway, Highway 137 is a freeway; South, it is a conventional 2-lane highway. Highway 137 was not affected by provincial downloading. Before late 2005, or early 2006, Highway 137 had been an un-posted designation. Since that time however, the MTO has surprisingly done an about face on that subject and has started indicating Highway 137 both along its route, and at its interchanges. Unfortunately, all of this new signage for Highway 137 has meant less signage for its continuation as Interstate 81 at the Highway 401 interchange, leaving a rather confusing situation for motorists.

Southern Terminus: At the Canada-USA border on Hill Island.

Northern Terminus: At the Highway 401 interchange (interchange number 661).

Freeway: North of the Thousand Islands Parkway to Highway 401 (1.6 km)

AADT (2002): Highest: 6,000, from US Customs northerly to the Thousand Islands Parkway;

Lowest: 5,500, from the Thousand Islands Parkway to Highway 401.

Road Info: Highway 137 is a well maintained route for its entire length. For much of its rural length, (except approaching the bridge toll booth, and US customs) Highway 137 has a posted speed limit of 80km/h. North of the Thousand Islands Parkway, Highway 137 is a full freeway.
