KING`S HIGHWAY NO. 400

Off-centred view of the overpass that carries Highway 400 over Jane Street. I wonder what those two guys are doing on the left side of the photo? Maybe admiring the brand new NW Arterial Road (later Black Creek Drive)? Summer of 1981.
View of the Southbound Highway 400 offramp to Jane Street. The construction work being undertaken in the photo has brought this ramp up to its modern day standard (well, at least up until 2004). It would have been interesting to see what the previous configuration of this ramp appeared like. Summer of 1981.
Facing south along southbound Highway 400 at the Sheppard Avenue overpass in the City of North York. Summer of 1981.
I think this is looking north along northbound Highway 400 between Sheppard Avenue and Finch Avenue in the City of North York. Summer of 1981.
Based on the location of that hydro corridor in the background, this is likely northbound Highway 400 at the Finch Avenue exit in North York. Notice the lack of an exit number on that gore signage. Summer of 1981.
I wanna say facing north along northbound Highway 400 just north of the Finch Avenue interchange. Summer of 1981.
Looking north along northbound Highway 400, more than a kilometre south of the Highway 7 interchange in Vaughan. Notice the Black Creek Pioneer Village tourist destination sign to the right. There was no access to Steeles Avenue from Highway 400 prior to the mid 1980s. Thanks to Jamie Malecki for helping me identify this photo. Summer of 1981.
Looking north along northbound Highway 400 at the Highway 7 interchange in Vaughan. This photo was taken before the Highway 7 interchange was reconfigured to a parclo A4 in 1987 as a precursor to the construction of Highway 407. It is amazing how much the landscape has change in just over 25 years. Today, this rural interchange is more reminiscent of the Highway 400/88 interchange near Bradford rather than bustling suburban Toronto. Summer of 1981.
A photo of the Highway 7 interchange on northbound Highway 400 about 100 metres north of the previous photo. I love how "Woodbridge" and "Thornhill" were used as control cities for Highway 7. Today these hamlets no longer exist, at least officially. Summer of 1981.
