AADT (2002):  Highest:  940, where it runs concurrent with Highway 551;

                             Lowest:  280, from Long Bay to Dryden's Corner.

Road Info:  Highway 542 is generally well-built for a secondary highway, however its design standards to vary a considerable amount depending upon traffic volumes.  The highway is built to very good standards where it is co-designated with Highway 551, and is more typical of a secondary highway for much of the rest of the highways length.  Highway 542 has a posted speed limit of 80km/h.

At Highway 551 South:  EB: Turn Left towards Mindemoya.  WB: Turn Right towards Spring Bay.
