Highway 551 runs from Providence Bay northeasterly to West Bay on Manitoulin Island. While resembling a typical secondary highway between Providence Bay and Mindemoya, the route is well built and well traveled between Mindemoya and West Bay, and actually resembles a lesser-traveled King's Highway.

AADT (2002): Highest: 1650, from Highway 542 at Mindemoya northerly to Highway 540;

Lowest: 1,200 from Providence Bay northerly to Highway 542 (West Junction)..

Road Info: Highway 551 is in reasonably good shape for its entire length. North of Mindemoya, the route actually resembles a lesser traveled King's Highway. South and west of Mindemoya the route looks much more like a typical secondary highway.
