King's Highway 19 - www.OntHighways.com

Before 1997, Highway 19 ran from Port Burwell, on the shores of Lake Erie northerly to the Highway 86 junction at Tralee. In 1998, the highway's length was notably shortened, as all sections of highway south of Highway 3 at Tillsonburg, and north of Highway 401 were decommissioned.

Southern Terminus: Pre-1997: Port Burwell.

Current: Junction Highway 3 on the Tillsonburg Bypass.

Northern Terminus: Pre-1997: At the Highway 86 (also downloaded) junction in Tralee.

Current: At the Highway 401 interchange located just south of Ingersoll.

Length: Pre-1997: 143.4 km. Current: 18.8 km.

Multiplexes: Currently, Highway 19 is not multiplexed with any other highways. Before 1997, Highway 19 was co-designated with both Highway 7 and Highway 8 near Stratford. Highway 19 was also cosigned with Highway 2 over the Thames River in Thamsford.

Freeway: No

AADT: Highest (2002): 9,600, from Mount Elgin northerly to Highway 401;

Lowest (1994): 1,300 from Milbank Road northerly to Highway 86.

Road Info: Since a large section of Highway 19 was rehabilitated in 2006, the current length of Highway 19 is now in very good condition. Most of the downloaded portions of Highway 19 are now also in good condition after having been rehabilitated by the counties the former highway passes through. The current portion of Highway 19 is quite busy (sometimes fairly congested), however traffic volumes are lighter on the defunct portions of 19. Like most other Ontario Highways, rural sections of Highway 19 are posted at 80km/h.
